August 2017 Financial and Goals Update

Kids are back in school and we only have four weeks of cheap summer golf rates. People that live in Arizona some will say our summer will be starting here in a few months. That is the months with cooler weather. The Heat doesn’t bother me and I sure don’t miss Mowing Grass or Shoveling Snow.

Logan is in 10th Grade this year and has more homework each year. He seems to enjoy it and still doesn’t seem to have any interest in getting his driver’s license. That is good for us. We checked in to what it would be cost just to add him to our Insurance as another Driver and it would cost us $1,460 more a year. That is if he had a 3 Point Grade average for the year.

Seth started 6th grade and is excited he has many of his friends in his class. He is also enjoying his teachers he has. This is his last year at Salk Elementary and next year he will be at Fremont Jr High. He is growing up way too fast.

Stock Market was up and down for the month again. My stocks ended down a hair and RE Wife stocks were down some also. I did sell some more stocks to work more towards my goal of not having more that 5% in one individual Stock. I sold 1,500 shares of NYMT Stock and lost $1,456.22. I also Sold 172 shares of OKE stock and made $2,380.87. Then we took that money and bought some more of the following stocks – F, RDS/B, MTGE, CIM, and AINV. Yearly projected dividends went up $56 with the redistribution of money.

As I have said before I still wish I had a crystal ball on the stock market. It is up so much since Trump won the election. I still feel it could drop any day being so high and stocks up so much. I guess time will tell. I am still 97% in Stocks.

We also switched our Car and Home Insurance to Gieco this month. We also about a million dollar Umbrella Insurance. We will still save about $260 a year even after adding the Umbrella policy.

We did have some back to school expenses this month and got Logan a new Desk for his bedroom. He should be pretty set now to do some long hours of studying.
RE Wife had an expensive month with Back to School supplies, Clothes and van repairs. The Van cost us $1,285 and we split the cost between the two of us. She also had Cade and Owens Birthday gift expense this month. Overall she had a pretty good month and five weeks of paychecks.
