Drive, Chip and Putt contest for Kids

july 2016

The photo above is from Drive, Putt and Chip contest this year. Both boys entered the tournament and both did a really good job. How will the game of golf keep growing is a question that people who love to play golf wants to know. Golfers want to see new golf courses open up, they like to see golf affordable to play. Golfers like to get the newest equipment that comes out to help improve our games. Golfers like places that they can practice at so they can improve their golf game. If you have played golf you know that you never master it and when you think you have it figured out then the next hole will show you that you need to keep working at it.

I love golf because it is a game I can do the rest of my life. I really enjoy playing with a group of friends and socializing with them after the round. I also enjoy competitive golf tournaments and rounds with my friends with a little riding on the scores. But to make golf affordable and around in the future we need to keep growing the game of golf and the best way is to get kids involved in it.

Darlene and myself have four kids, two are grown up and two are at home. Seth is 10 years old and Logan is 14 years old. We are getting them more interested in golf by the day. We work on making golf fun and slowly letting them know the rules of the game and ways to improve their games. We installed a Chipping and Putting area in the backyard plus a golf driving net to help improve our games and have fun games in the backyard with the boys.

Last year was their first year they participated in Drive, Chip and Putt contest locally in Arizona. It was such a great event putt on for kids. If you have kids getting into golf it is a great thing for them to experience.

Drive, Chip and Putt contest is totally free for kids to participate in. They also get some good goodies free to take home with them when done.

They also give out awards to the top three in each age group for each area. The top three in each age group for overall scores advance on to a regional event. Eventually they could make it all the way to Nationals which is played the weekend before the Masters and at on the Masters course. What a dream that would be to see our boys make it there. I wish we had that available when I was growing up.

Also there are other local groups the kids can join like First Tee or US Kids Golf to help get the kids more interested into golf. I hope the kids enjoy golf for a life time and I would love to play golf with all four of my kids someday. I want to give a special thanks to Drive, Chip and Putt contest for all they do.

Let me know your thoughts about this blog and let me know of others you would like me to do in the future. I feel we can all learn from each other. That is why I am in the helping people improve their Golf games, enjoy life more and be more successful.
