How do you Feed your Mind?

Many of my friends talk about how they are careful about the information they take in. They want to take to feed their mind with helpful information that will help them be more successful. They will try to avoid anything from negative people, news, TV, internet and more.

There can be negative affects from things we take in. For instance how much news are you watching on TV or the Internet? I know most of you may not agree with this, but the news can be totally depressing. I suggest editing what you watch on the news.

I am not saying you need to bur your head in the sand. It is good to keep in touch with what is going on in the world. But, there are a ton of negative things that are on the news for the weather and sports, but then I do not watch too much after that.I intentionally edit out the amount of negative news I read in newspapers and magazines. The same is also true when I browse the Internet.

The more you read about possible negative outcomes, the more stressed you become. Reading about possible negative outcomes tends to implant negative messages in your unconscious mind. That creates a background-operating program that attracts doubt and even hopelessness. Who needs that?

Remember, the Internet is a tool, but sometimes it can be misused, overused, and abused by not controlling your own intake, and it will create negative outcomes. So stop that! It’s not in your best interest!

Here’s a good example of just how detrimental outside news can be. A friend of mine was sick, and she went online to find out what she had. After she read about all the worst-case scenarios, she started to get stomachaches and headaches just from the stress of what she might have. She never found out what she did have, much less what could be done about it. So, essentially, she was left with two issues instead of one!

We talk to our boys about the importance of how they feed their minds and who they choose to spend their time with. It is so important to feed your mind with positive things and not negative things. Positive things will help lift you up and encourage you. Negative things can bring you down and make you lazy.

Here is a positive quote I like; “Accentuate the Positive, Eliminate the Negative, Latch on the Affirmative, Don’t mess with Mr. In-between” by Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen (Accentuate the positive)
