Keeping your Thoughts Positive

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I don’t think I could ever read enough books on the power of the mind and how successful people reached that level. I am human like most people and let myself have negative thoughts at times and I keep working on learning new tricks to try or do to get my thoughts useful and not hurtful towards reaching success.

Whether you are golfing, bowling, spending time with the family, at work or out with friends the power of your thoughts can determine your level of fun and success.

I was thinking about the people in my life the last week and what I noticed about them. Some of my friends are really positive and that is why I like being around them but they are human and have bad days or hours. Some people I meet are really negative about work and life and those I try not to be around unless I have to. Then those who take Golf to serious and lost the aspect that Golf is for fun and we aren’t making a living at it. When they get upset they do worse.

Just from the last week I can see the people that were more of a positive outlook on life seemed happier and more successful in the area of life that I was with them in at the time. I know life is too short and my goal in life is to leave a positive impact on the world so people will say that I made their lives a little better. One of my books I am working on is the Power of our Words and How to Reach Success.

I know there are a lot of different books on those subjects, but we can’t have enough written to help people be happier in life, work, relationships and with themselves. Even if a book only touches one person, that person will never be the same and could go on to help someone else that may need a lift.

I used to do a lot of Volunteer work before I got married and it really felt good helping other people. I hope to take our boys to food shelters and homeless centers to help volunteer so they can see how many people are in need.

I talked to a pastor at one of my volunteer groups for giving out blankets to the homeless in Minnesota. He said that about 30% are new to being homeless and like on vacation, Another 50% aren’t ready yet to take the next steps to get back to working, and about 20% are ready and want to work towards getting back on their feet. He tries with them all but really focuses on those ready to succeed.
I do many things when I let myself get negative thoughts or feelings get in my mind. Like I will ready one of my favorite books on Faith or the Power of our Mind, etc. Another thing I do is pick up the phone and call one of my most positive friends to just talk with and that helps. Another thing I do is I have a Day-Timer I carry with many positive quotes in it (yes, I am old school and still carry a Day-Timer. Also in my daytime I have a Positive Scorecard of all my successes over my life time that I achieved, the people and things in my life that I am grateful for, etc.

I challenge people first thing when they are really down and wanting some ideas on what to do, I have them do a Positive Scorecard for themselves. Next I challenge them to read one of my favorite books or watch one of my favorite videos. I really feel it is important to feed our minds with positive thoughts and block out the negative people as much as we can.

I may not know who originally said the quote or where I heard it at, but I carry them in my Day-Timer to help lift me up if needed. Here are some of my favorite quotes:

“When you Change the way you look at things, the things you look at Change” by Wayne Dyer

Trust Gold, He will take care of it the ways he feels it is best.

“Worry is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do but never gets you anywhere” by Erma Bombeck

Rome wasn’t built in a day.

“The best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time” by Abraham Lincoln

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” By Peter Drucker

“The way to happiness: Keep your heart free from hate, your mind from worry. Live simply, expect little, give much. Scatter sunshine, forget self, think of others. Try this for a week and you will be surprised.” By Norman Vincent Peale
