September 2017 Financial & Goals

We are getting excited for our first cruise ever in a few weeks. We are taking a Disney Cruse to Mexico. I think that might have helped us in September on keeping our spending down. Either way it is fun to have stuff to look forward to.

This month we did have a few items that we did for the house or our peace of mind which cost us $523.41 out of the normal. But it is done now and we now have clean vents. Our Heating and Air guy will be back in October to check our system out but hopefully he won’t find anything wrong. This month we bought a backup pump in case we get some flooding in the backyard. We also had all of our House Vents cleaned this month, those were are three high house expenses. Just another cost of owning a house.

Logan and Seth had more homework this month to keep them busy. This year Seth is having to write longer book reports. He had to read two books last month and write a long report about each chapter. He wasn’t thrilled about it. LOL We went to the library yesterday and got his new book for his next report due. The books look fun though. We try to have family reading time at night for at least a half hour or longer.

Stock Market was up for the month again. My stocks ended up a bunch and RE Wife stocks were up also but just a hair. I did keep selling more stocks to work more towards my goal of not having more that 5% in one individual Stock. We did make a net of $1,240.32 for the stocks we sold. Our yearly projected dividends went up $403.90 with the redistribution of stocks. Yea..

As I have said before I still wish I had a crystal ball on the stock market. It is up so much since Trump won the election. I still feel it could drop any day being so high and stocks up so much. I guess time will tell. We are now about 98.07% in Stocks.

RE Wife had an expensive month with her shoes for work and fun. The shoes cost her $263.49 but a good investment. She works on her feet most of the day and works on cement floors. She has been averaging 12 to 14 hours lately due to a huge special project at work. Overall she had a pretty good month with all the overtime she got. She is defiantly ready for our cruse in a few weeks.

2017 Goals Progress

We did make more progress towards our New Year’s Resolutions again. October we will have even more knocked off.

Our Goal of going to 6 New Restaurants we went to another new one on our date night. We went to Sandbar Mexican Restaurant to watch the Iowa game for our Date night. We are now at 5 for the year or 83.33%.

Weight Lost Goal I lost a big .8lbs or 30% progress for the year.

Boys didn’t see any movies this month. We are still at 50% progress for the year.

My Golf goal of over 60 rounds was hit. I broke 78 rounds for the year so far.

Our Vacation is planned for October to Mexico. We are 100% on our CA trip and MN Trip.

I invested $1,000 in my Roth this year so far or 15.38% progress.

RE Wife has $260 in her Emergency Fun or 5.2% progress.

No progress towards new book, RE Wife Roth or my Emergency fun.

Of course our expense goals we hope not to hit 100%. Looks like we may be a little off. In January we will sit down and go over our budget for 2018, our Goals for 2018 and then look at our 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 years out and so on Goals and plans. We have projects on spreadsheets I created and we also have all our info plugged in to the Retirement projector with Fidelity.
