Some people say they don’t want to retire early because they enjoy what they do for work. It makes them feel good and they can’t imagine not doing it anymore.
We teach the boys that they don’t have to retire early just because they may reach their Financial Freedom goals early in their life. But it is nice to have options if they choose to retire early.
As always, I am not giving you any Financial Advice and you should seek advice from your Professional Advisors to see what is best for your situation. See my Disclaimer at MillsWay.com. This is for entertainment only.
If someone decides not to completely retire early because they like to keep busy or they just like their job. Maybe they like their co-workers, helping their customers to the daily challenges of the job.
People can have many options though if they want to keep busy or feel productive. Here are some ideas to think about if you reach Financial Freedom at an early age;
- Volunteer work. Is there something that you care about and want to give your time to help out. For instance, Logan would pick doing volunteer at the Dog Pet Rescue here in Arizona. He worked their off and on during High School and really misses it. Doing volunteer work is also a great way to meet new people.
- Start a Hobby. You would have time now to follow or start a new hobby that you have always wanted to do. Let’s say you wanted to take up Photography. Now you would have time to go out and learn about Photography. You could travel to places you have always wanted to see to take photos. You could even post the photos on a website that you created and sell the photos for some side income. I am always looking at ways to create passive income.
- Work a different Job. Maybe you always wanted to do a different job or profession but never did because it paid way less than you currently make. But if you are able to retire early then you would be able to try that different job that you wanted to do. Choices are great to have.
- Start a Business. This could be a time that you want to start a Business that you have always wanted to do. Maybe the business is a Handy Man Service to help people with small repairs around their house or maybe you wanted to start a Custom Car Shop. The choice is yours.
These were just a few things that you could do if you choose to retire early after you hit your Financial Freedom goals but you wanted to stay busy and have some of the feelings that you get from your career.
There are many people who keep pushing the idea of Retiring Early but you don’t have to retire if you don’t want too. But being able to retire gives you options that if you choose to retire, keep working or do something new. Wouldn’t that be a great feeling to have those options and not be worried about affording to financially survive if you retired from your current job.
Even though we are semi-retired since Darlene still works and I am retired from my career. Now in my retired years I get to follow my passion of helping people reach their Financial Goals. Even though I am writing books, doing blogs, making videos and doing my Podcast each week I am having fun. I enjoy building up businesses and helping out people.
Darlene plans on going to part-time and semi retire in a few years once the boys are out of the house. Then to fully retire once she qualifies for her Pension Plan and gets on Medicare unless we hit our Financial Freedom goals earlier.
Even though we are building up our businesses they may not be making a lot of money and that is fine. That is a benefit of hitting your Financial Freedom goals early that we have. It gives me the freedom of working on our businesses and not worry about paying the bills since we live on a budget and we are debt free for life.
What would you do if you could retire today? What are you passionate about? What would your Budget look like at Retirement? Would you retire or keep working? So many options for sure that we all can have if we reach our Financial Freedom goals.
We want the boys to know that they can retire early if they are able too. But that it is fine if they choose to keep working. Financial Freedom gives a person many choices.
